Little Man Knitted Newborn Hat

I decided to make a newborn-sized hat for one of my preg-o coworkers. She is having a little boy and I wanted it to look more like a little version of an adult hat. I searched and searched and just couldn't find any pattern to my liking, so I made up my own!

And here is the result:
So, I'm super proud of myself for writing a pattern. And to share my joy, I will share it with you!! Hooray free patterns!!

Little Man Hat (for newly born people)

Yarn: I used Debblie Bliss Cathay. Cotton/Silk blend
Needles: Size 5 double pointed needles
Pattern:
CO 60 sts
Place 20 sts per needles
*k2, p2, rep from* for ribbing.
Join in the round and continue k2,p2 ribbing for 1 inch.
Next: Knit -continue knitting in the round for 3 inches. (now hat is 4'' total)
For Decrease:
*k2tog, k10, rep from*
next round: *k2tog, k9, rep from*
next round: *k2tog, k8, rep from*
next round: *k2tog, k7, rep from*
Continue decreasing until...
*k2tog, k1, rep from*
Now you have 10 sts remaining.
next round: k2tog 5 times
Draw yarn through remaing 5 sts and secure on inside of your adorable hat!!

Here's what the top will look like: swirly
Since I do not have any adorable newly born people in my home Mr. Matrioshka Doll will model for relative size (understand is head is much smaller than a baby human).
If you have any questions about my pattern, please feel free to ask. This is my first one to ever actually write out so it may not make sense.

My lovely Wedding craftivities

Beautious Wedding Ring Pillow
Yarn: Laines Du Nord, Mulberry Silk (100% silk) oh yum! Size 7 needles.
No pattern used, I just made it up. I sewed in a green ribbon to act as a little handle. My 13 year old sister (and Junior Bridesmaid) carried it down the aisle in addition to her bouquet and gave it to the Justice of the peace with the time came. There is another green ribbon tied tightly through the middle.
Note: This is super-easy and special if you want to make it for your own wedding or as a gift to a bride!

Practicing the tie and untie!!

Good work Kasey! Doesn't the pillow and ribbon look lovely with the bridesmaid dresses and their jewelry!?

Me and my new husband! (for good measure!) Love him.
Simply beautiful centerpieces. Vases from Micheals with color-coordinated rocks and a beta-fish! At the end of the night they all found a new home!
I made lots of these, they were around the bar area, guestbook, and marriage-spot. I took the labels off of wine bottles (with a blowdryer), then etched images into the glass. Some of them had a ribbon around the neck that was attached by a wax 'B' stamp (from the invitations). People brought these home too! I bought the pretty flowers the morning of the wedding at a local grocery. I think this was a unique ~and inexpensive~ decoration.

Guestbook photo album. People signed all around pictures- baby pictures to the proposal.
The cake!! Professionally done. I'm not that crafty.

The best part of all was we had so much fun! And now we're married!

ODE to first ever knitted SHIRT!

I finished this a while back but have been way to busy with wedding planning to post it. I'm getting married next Saturday, and everything is planned!

I've knitted many many things, but never a shirt or sweater. I chose the Summertime Tunic from Interweave Knits 2007. The pattern is very easy- no sleeves to attach, which was perfect for my first shirt.

The yarn is Cathy Bliss 'Cathay' which is a cotton/silk blend, lovely, in sage green.

Unneccessary, but still enjoyable, close-up-of-stitches shot. The green is much more beautiful in person.

The cool thing about this tunic is the straps, they are just ribbon looped through. It was easy and looks pretty cool. And if they fray or start to look generally crappy, they are easily replaced.
Sweet side shot:
Its a little looser than I would like. And the band is kinda stretched out, I plan to block it to see if that helps. I don't have alot of blocking experience. Also, I used the sizing smaller than my actual bust size as recommended, thankfully.
Overall, a very fun knit. And pretty darn quick, since it was knitted in the round for most of the length.
Hooray! Next: Wedding craftiness!!
